Yum, yes please @Former-Member
Hi @Shaz51
I've just got the power back on, after a blackout for several hours.
I was not prepared, bumbled around in the semi-dark.
Then discovered that my torches had flat batteries & didn't work...

Thanks @Shaz51 Yes it's nice & bright now, with the lights on.
I have solar panels, most of the solar output goes back into the electricity grid (I don't use that much).
When there's a blackout, the solar system shuts down (it won't operate).

A good reminder to check on blackout supplies here @Adge we have a supply of tealight candles and a wind up torch. We are all electric here - would love a gas cooktop, much better for wok cooking but also handy for when the power is out.

Thanks for reminding me @Former-Member I had completely forgotten that I have a hand-crank torch.
It doesn't need a battery - I just found it again, but I couldn't find my other one.
I've got gas hot water, & gas stove & oven.
So I can still have hot water when there's a blackout - though that doesn't light the place up.
Yes a gas stovetop is really good to cook with.
I should use it more, instead of microwaving everything...
