rough time

Re: rough time

Hi @outlander

I would keep my name on the Headspace waiting list for now and google local psychologists, phone around and see who can bulk bill you.

See one as soon as possible.

💜💖

Re: rough time

hey @outlander thanks for the update

I think option 1 is probs the best, however still wait on the headspace waiting list. You could also see a bulk billed psych that WON'T use up any MHCP sessions - however this is dependent on your local area. For example, I used to see a psych at a medical centre that was bulk billed. Turns out I didn't need to use my MHCP as it was a medicare rebated service already. I THINK that's what was the case, so don't quote me on that.

You also have SANE chat to help when you need it too. God knows I've used that A LOT in the past month or so whilst seeing my psych.

the great thing about headspace is that while you are on the waitlist they dont treat you like crap (like some gp places might or whatever). I used to work at headspace in the city and it was really good to see how they run their programs. I'm sure if you have any more questions about that sort of stuff, you'd be able to ask headspace. I think you've done some cool work here too by being able to sort out your options despite your circumstances - well done on that!

Re: rough time

Thanks @Former-Member@MDT

I dont like the option till waiting till the end of the year to get a psych
Im going to stay on the headspace list but look for a bulk billing psych in the meantime. If i find one then i can call headspace and ask them to take me off the list.

I may be able to use the rest of my sessions with a psych outside headspace but when the sessions run out try to do monthly sessions but ill have to pay full price.

Either way itll be about a month between sessions unless i find a bulk billing psychologist

Bulk billing is definently ideal though

Re: rough time

First of all, well done you for using your time constructively by thinking this situation out and planning and writing all the pros and cons. In DBT, that is called Wise Mind. Awesome work lil Sis! @outlander

I agree with @Former-Member

that you should continue looking for a pyschologist that bulk bills through Medicare. That's how I found my current pysch. Just keep Googling, but sometimes you have to play around with the wording in your search. I think this is the best option in the long term, as you really need weekly sessions for an extended period of time.

Re: rough time

I spent quite abit of time of it today however most of the thoughts come while i was sorting beads for sister for her tea party ( she uses beads and each colour for a different 'food') at least we were both occupied for around 2 hrs lol
I actually remember your tips about decison making thats how i got the idea of doing it that way. Trying to work it out in my head juat wasnt working well was going round and round then spoke to HC as i got distressed from it but im ok again now.

Bulk billing would be ideal i think too. Having 6 or so weeks between sessions im not sure how effective thatll be and fiances are already tight so im not sure how a private psych would go. Its not something i could comfortably commit to.

I cant seem to find anyone who bulk bills
Is it worth trying to contact them through email and actually asking about it? Im not proud of that though so i really hesitiate at that idea @Sans911

Re: rough time

I'm a bit lost with this last sentence

Im not proud of that though so i really hesitiate at that idea @Sans911

Not sure what/where this relates to?! @outlander

Just keep searching for a bit longer. Perhaps widen your search up to an hour if you've not done that already.

I think some of the searches I did were something like these

Medicare rebated pyschologist

Bulk billing pyschologist

Free pyschologist

Rebateable pyschologist

Hope these might help you.

Or find a few pyschologists just outside your area you have searched before, check out their websites and email a few to see if there's a possibility that can do that.

Re: rough time

Sorry @Sans911 musnt have made it all that clear. When i said maybe i should email a few to ask if they bulk bill- asking them if they bulk bill is hard and having to ask for financial assistance isnt really something im proud of so i hesitate to actually ask unless it states on the website bulk billing is a possible option.. -does that nake more sense?

Thanks for the suggestions ill try some of those. Ive mostly just been using the findapsychologist site and im already looking around the hr mark but for the right one will travel abit further.

I also thought about my gp replacement too- i see my reg gp next week to sort a few things out so hopefully ill be able to see about who her replacement will be or if finding another one is on the cards but ill wait and see first. One step at a time

How are you travelling tonight?

Re: rough time

Yep, totally got that now. But they still earn their money, so they get paid by the government instead of you. I understand the embarrassment about it, but you not only need this, but you deserve it as much as anyone else.

I'm doing ok today. I'm waiting on my savoury chops to finish cooking for dinner. They smell delicious. I need to be more consistent with my eating habits

Re: rough time

Thanks @Sans911 i will try to email some but maybe after the weekend..
i was watching jurrasic park on tv and of all night reception is lost. Grrr will have to buy the dvds me thinks. Its so quiet in this house when pops not home.

Mm yum, i think i can smell them from here! Do you have beady eyes looking at you too while your in the kitchen? Im glad your doing ok today, were you very busy again?

Re: rough time

My dinner was really yum @outlander

Jasper was trying to lick the sauce even though it was steaming hot.

I've had a nice, relaxing and quiet day. Sorted a little bit more of my room/Office, but I got bored so I had a nap.
