I am having intrusive thoughts about a trauma that happened when I was about 9 or 10 years old. I can’t go into detail. I remember it as though it happened yesterday. I am doing trauma therapy at the moment. My therapist thinks I am avoidant. I am just really scared to properly think about it all.

That's rough @Oaktree. It's horrible when things that happened so long ago can still have such big impacts on us today. Going through trauma therapy can bring up alot of things from the past and can be upsetting to go through. I don't think it's avoidance as such but more that fear of reliving it all again, it's our brains way of trying to protect ourself. Have you got some things to do to try and distract yourself from those thoughts? Even just some small things for some self care?

I have been lying down in bed for over an hour in a dark room. My thoughts are just going round and round. I don’t know! I could get up and do something else I guess? I really need to see my psychologist but I don’t have an appointment till Wednesday.

@Oaktree sometimes getting up and doing something can break that cycle. Even if you get up and have a drink or just walk around for a little bit. I'm glad you have an appointment on Wednesday but I know that can feel like so far away when things are like this.
