Fascinating to realise the relationship with Russia of other European nations across those time periods too @Mazarita .....
Peter the Great travelled to Holland and England to learn ship building, working as a labourer in the shipyards so he understood the trade from the ground up. Then he relocated the capital of Russia to create a port city and built a naval fleet, dressing the nobles of his country as then-modern Europeans and introducing them to European society. Not bad for a boy who became king at 9years old, then experienced immediate revolution including the loss of family members ..... powerful story .....

Good night Everyone
Mazy @Mazarita, I think I'm very disappointed with my child. I think I don't want to face paying for their decisions. They are the only person I have left in the World, I love them with all I have, but I just feel like I want to run away from all their problems. I feel like a terrible Mother, a bad person. And as always I think I created this situation. I always tell them that they're right, when in my head I'm screaming that they're wrong. I want to be on their side, support them in their beliefs and desires, but the truth is I don't.
I appolgize for being on a downer, I think you'll understand, at least I think you'll accept without judgement.

Good morning, @Former-Member. I hear you and of course do not judge. You are not wrong for feeling the way you do. You didn't create the situation with your child. They are an adult now and have responsibility for their own choices. Perhaps telling them they are right is not always the best thing to do. Is it possible not to comment at all? As in, listen if they tell you things, and just acknowledge that you are hearing them, rather than actually agree? I think it's a hard call for you and really feel for you with it. Please don't ever feel the need to apologise for being on a downer. You are so often upbeat anyway. But even if you weren't, that's okay here, it really is. As your friend, I want to hear you too, up and down and sideways. Sending love as always, streaming it to you.
