@Owlunar this is really cool

Re: Dec's Guide to the Night Sky for Amateur Astromomers - including Melbourne weather

Thanks @redheaded

Things will start getting interesting in the mornings in a few weeks - and the weather will be warmer so I will be walking around outside waiting to see all sorts of things happening

I am glad you like the thread - I will tag @Phoenix_Rising - too - hi Phoenix - I couldn't find you before - didn't notice the under-score

@Ceres

heres the astrology thread 🙂

Re: Dec's Guide to the Night Sky for Amateur Astromomers - including Melbourne weather

Hi @outlander

This is an astronomy thread - but we can have a bit of astrology as well - I find both very interesting but I know more about the solar system actually

And hi @Ceres

Welcome to the Forum Family - every one is welcome and people support each other wonderfully - so great to have you aboard

So everyone else - @redheaded@utopia@Former-Member@Shaz51@Former-Member

Things are getting interesting in the sky now and will become moreso in the next few weeks - the rest of the year actually

After having cloudy afternoons and evenings in Melbourne we havef had some really clear nights and we still have Jupiter followed by the constellation Scorpio and the star Antares and Saturn crossing the sky in the early evening now.  On a clear evening they are easy to find and right now the moon is in the evening sky right by those - so things are easier to find atm

Mercury is setting in the west well after sunset but I haven't been able to find it - my horizon is too high here and with some things they are hard to find if we are not sure where to look

In the mornings - which have been pretty clear here in Melbourne - the two constellations Orion and Taurus are both clearly visible rising and look fantastic - people - it is so easy to see the Wolf-Star - Sirius now - it is hard to miss

Thanks for the call-out Outlander - I was about to write this - just didn't get around to it - now I have

And here the evenings are stretching out - it is still light after 6.00pm now

Re: Dec's Guide to the Night Sky for Amateur Astromomers - including Melbourne weather

oh sorry @Owlunar my mistake

Re: Dec's Guide to the Night Sky for Amateur Astromomers - including Melbourne weather

Not a problem @outlander

We can talk about astrology too - I just don't know that much about it

What I can bring up here is the stories about the names of the planets - they are named after Roman gods and they have interesting history

For instance Mercury is a multi-purpose god - really into nearly everything

Venus is the goddess of love - wow - she can tell some stories

Mars is the god of war

Jupiter is like the boss of the gods

Saturn is the god of time - I think

It's an easy jump from here to astrology

Hi Dec,

thanks for the welcome . I don't know too much about astronomy but do have a diploma in Astrology and do natal charts in my spare time. However always interested in anything to do with the heavens and love to star gaze, your forecast sounds fascinating and will look forward to reading them regularly, nice to focus on something other than home issues. Many thanks for the lovely welcome 🙂

Thanks so much its been a relief and very comforting to find others who share the same situations. Whilst I'm not a fan generally of support groups and bonding through a common misery, its comforting at the same time to know and read that there is help out there and support. 🙂
