Schizophrenia

My son is newly diagnosed  with schizophrenia, it’s been a very difficult & traumatic time. Any advice would be greatly appreciated mainly just trying to get him to accept his diagnosis & stay on his medication.

Re: Schizophrenia

Hey @Nat21 that would indeed be a very heavy thing for you and your family to go through. It can be really difficult when someone we love isn't quite ready to see or accept a diagnosis like this, and there can be frustration that arises too.

Do you have much in the way of support for yourself? Sometimes having a safe space to talk about a situation that is outside of the situation itself can really help - like working with a therapist or counsellor for example. You can also give our support line (1800 187 263, Mon-Fri 10am-8pm) a buzz if you want to unpack your situation more deeply - they're a lovely bunch, and very understanding/familiar with situations similar to yours.

Hope you find what you're looking for in the community 💜
