Something’s not right

what a horrible day

Re: what a horrible day

@MDT. Wow you are really beating yourself up today. I don't see there being anything wrong with having a day or two off and just resting, doing nothing. they are our selfcare days. I personally am taking them every week, while I'm trying to get over my last Depressive episode.

You have 1 more month to go on your study. You can manage that. You sound like you have a lot of strength. Just that you can't see or feel it today. But it is definately there.

Just focus on the end of your course. that's all. You can wory or think about work once your study has finished. One thing at a time. Take it easy on yourself.

Re: what a horrible day

the heat screws my sleep @Queenie and @outlander

i dunno who else to reach out to.. other than helplines..

i hate my image and body.. there i said it. Feels good to say it. I hate being tall. Makes me very self conscious. My eating is gone to shit too. Struggle to eat because I am rarely hungry.

It's torture 😞

anyway i am in bed now so hopefully can get sleep.. a good nights rest.. hopefully if i am willing.. i will go to a new cafe near uni tomorrow because it is my second last friday at uni..

Re: what a horrible day

Hi @outlander @MDT .... thanks for tagging me .....

I thought about how to answer this for a little while, and here is what I came up with .... I hope you find it useful @MDT .....

Below is a link to a list of over 50 common core values.  If you look through that list, you will find some which you can relate to as strongly representing you ..... for instance Learning is one of them, and you are about to achieve a tertiary degree.  Not everyone can relate to this core value the way you do.  Achievement is another core value on the list.

Others may strike you as traits .... they are a little bit like you .... you have a recognition of them within you but you wouldn't at this stage relate to them strongly.

Here's the thing .... we can consentrate on strengthening and developing core values if we choose to, and although the list is a big one, there may only be a handful that you would wish to be your strong core values, and a handful more that don't mind carrying forward as traits.  It's not like anyone r presents all of these core values, although there are some people who would spend their lives in works and places that focus on these ahead of what we might consider a normal life.

https://jamesclear.com/core-values

It is likely that the people you see as popular have a set of core values that are easy to relate to for most people, and that might be why they seem to attract a crowd ..... or their core values might add up to a showman-type image .... who knows ?  If that is what you want, perhaps consider strengthening the values that seem to lead there.  Community service might be one such avenue.

See what you think.

Thanks for posting that link @Faith-and-Hope. I really struggle with my sense of self (it’s practically non-existent) so that list gives me a lot to think about.

It looks like a great place to start, @MDT. I think it would be helpful for you too, @outlander.

Re: what a horrible day

Thanks @Faith-and-Hope
Will take a look tomorrow @Former-Member when im abit more alert

Re: what a horrible day

@Former-Member
You are right about self compassion. I often try to take the view of another person in order to build it up. It works ar times and others i just lose interest.

hot weather and i have never gotten along lol

Re: what a horrible day

@utopia i was yeah.. i think i will just ride out the next month and then worry about working afterwards. I just feel like i am wasting time is all.

@Faith-and-Hope i will be sure to check out that link because that sort of thing can help a lot..

@outlander which helplines help you? i find lifeline is rather useless.. depends too much on they type of person that comes on..
